What’s So Great About the Milwaukee Panthers?
It’s a good question. Especially since, up until recently, I had never even heard of the Panthers. Granted, I was never much of a sports fan to begin with. I didn’t get my television through places like directstartv.com or whatever so I didn’t have access to all those fancy sports channels, and even if I did I wouldn’t have watched them. I knew about a lot of the headline making teams. I knew about the Red Sox, and the Yankees and I even knew a little bit about the Orioles. What I didn’t know was about this local minor league baseball team known as the Milwaukee Panthers or their importance to the sport?
To sum up the history of the team in as few words as possible would be to call them the quintessential underdog story and be done with it. However, such would be doing their reputation and their legacy a disservice and while they may not have been the best baseball team that ever played, one thing they had more than many of the mainstream teams in this day and age was heart. You would never find a team with as much spirit and tenacity as the Panthers and that’s what’s so great about them.
